Product Details

Electronic component housings are often used in many different industries. They provide a space for an electronic device to be safely stored and protected from the environment. This kind of housing is made out of 6061-T6 aluminum, which has been black anodized and sandblasted to create a durable, long-lasting exterior.

From the picture, you can see some blank areas both on the outside and inside. That’s the most difficult part of this process which is removing the anodizing layer so that it can be conductive. Why it’s the most difficult part?  Because the anodizing layer has been dyed by a chemical process. So, it’s difficult to take out with conventional methods. We have to remove it by CNC machine which means products will be fixed on the machine again. So we usually set some allowance for removing work. Workers must take care of coordinates to make sure that the housing will be cut precisely at the required positions, or removing fewer or extra layers will happen. We also remove anodizing layer by laser, it’s safer and faster, but the limit is laser can just remove the layer on a flat plate. Like this product.

Removing anodizing layer is common for an electronic enclosure,  so this kind of process is not new to us. We have certain experience in removing anodized layers while maintaining accuracy and quality standards.
